Welcome to the website of Shenfield Operatic SocietyShenfield Operatic Society. known as SOS, is an amateur dramatics society based in Essex, specialising in musical theatre. The society started in 1961 when a small group of teachers formed the St Martin’s Operatic and Dramatic Society at St Martin’s Boys’ School Hutton. With an initial fund of two shillings and sixpence (around 12½p) they set out to produce South Pacific which they performed in the school hall on the 19th March 1962. Many pupils from St Martin’s Girls’ and Boys’ school became involved and the society changed it’s name to Shenfield Operatic SocietySOS produce two musical shows a year: our main show at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch in February and a smaller show or concert at a venue in Brentwood in July. We are always on the lookout for new members to join us; both on stage and behind the scenes.
